MISSION STATEMENT
ARTS FOR EVERETT
ARTS FOR EVERYONE
ARTS FOR EVERYONE
Arts for Everett, Inc. supports the growth and development of the arts in Everett by providing physical space for artmaking, hosting community arts events, and collaborating with local organizations throughout Greater Boston.
The core value and primary purpose of Arts for Everett, Inc. is to provide consistent access to inclusive artistic experiences, regardless of ability to pay. By cultivating opportunities for creative expression and human connection, our work fosters healthy lifestyles for individuals and the well-being of the community as a whole. Our community art studio, Art Lab Everett, offers on-site classes and self-guided artmaking opportunities for all ages through a variety of programming. Our off-site enrichment programs bring artmaking workshops to local schools, organization, and public events. |
FOUNDER/DIRECTOR
Martha Chason-Sokol is a practicing artist who shows her work locally and nationally. She has a Bachelors degree from Brandeis University and a Masters degree in Fine Arts from Lesley University College of Art and Design. Chason-Sokol has taught in non-traditional settings for over thirty years. She moved to Everett with the intention of establishing her own art studio as well as creating an art space for Everett residents. Through the generosity of the Everett Citizens Foundation, The Everett Cultural Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council she is able to offer free arts opportunities to Everett residents. With the support of the Card to Culture program she hopes to reach those in surrounding towns who are interested in participating in art lab programming.

OUR HISTORY
Although the lab opened in August of 2021, A.L.E. really began in February of 2020 when Martha and her husband made an offer for an amazing space in Everett. The building had been transformed from a pharmacy (with a still visible but fading Coca-Cola logo on the side) to a branch of the Everett Public Library and then (with the addition of a garage door) to McLaughlin's upholstery shop. With the light pouring in through the garage door and the large windows, it was ideal for an artist's studio. There was also an opportunity to create a workshop in the basement with the addition of a separate entry. Art Lab Everett was born. We opened on August 15th with the first Garage Door Gallery pop-up exhibition. Covid slowed our progress in 2021, but we are rebounding and working in partnership with several local organizations to offer workshops and public arts programming.
